ALEXANDER POPE MEETS MARK TWAIN
 
Dictators may come and go
while tyrants wax and wane.
But error never loses hope
of more converts to gain.
 
Congresses and parliaments
can boast all that they want
but money sends them scurrying
to error's gilded haunt.
 
Honesty is only found
in private acts of grace
which confound every party of
the whole damn human race.
