At your public college do not be too much dismayed
If the foreign language classes are tossed out with a "put paid."
They're sure not money makers and with budgets now so tight,
German, French, Norwegian are just dreams that haunt the night.
"Guten Tag" and "au revoir" will not get you a place
In any kind of job that lets your parents show their face.
Instead you need to study how to file for unemployment,
And how to shop at Dollar stores for maximum enjoyment.
How to kiss your boss's . . . well, that's ancient history –
Ev'ryone has done it since 2001 B.C.
Of course you'll need to learn to speak both Spanish and Chinese;
"ola's" as American as apple pie with cheese –
And China's hacking Google and the Pentagon so fast
That we'll be eating refried beans with chopsticks at the last.
