The villain in this melodrama enters with a sneer,
And says "I have the mortgage and will now foreclose, my dear!"
Outside it is snowing and the wind is blowing hard –
Can no one save this maiden from a fate so cruel and hard?
Hark! Here comes the hero with a magnifying glass –
"Your mortgage won't hold water, so you must unhand that lass!"
The villain goes back home to gnash his teeth til he is spent;
The maiden lives in peace and never pays a bit of rent.
So if you have a mortgage that you'd rather just ignore,
Get a judge to rule that it is rotten to the core.
