Shrinking budgets mean our schools
must cut activities
or else make parents pony up
with large and hefty fees.
If your child plays hockey
the equipment isn't cheap.
A band trip costs a fortune,
not to mention lack of sleep.
When the game's away from home
your darling little tyke
still can go by school bus
but to come back he'll hitch hike.
The free lunch program will remain
but free sports face extinction.
So get your kid a part-time job
for after-school distinction.
