Baseball

It's not the sport of kings or has a Stanley Cup at all –

In college all the scholarships are given to football.

Most games take longer than it took the Pyramids to build –

Those who play with chessmen are much smarter and more skilled.

Soccer has the glamour and badminton has the grace

And basketball is played at such a fascinating pace.

But who has not been awe-struck when the Dodgers (or the Twins)

After many losses start to bring in a few wins?

We holler and we gambol and we act out tribal lore

Over a prosaic and ephemeral baseball score.
