Sea Glass

Throw a bottle in the ocean,

Wait a hundred years –

When it lands upon the shore

It may bring happy tears

To those strange collectors

Who stalk up and down a beach,

Looking for a cat's paw or

Perhaps a mummied leech.

Cast your bread upon the deep –

The Bible tells us so –

And you may have a table at

Some kind of antique show.

Ah, we spend our hours

Searching for we know not what

On the shores of Life;

 so are we Saints or just a nut?
