Economics

Economic science has its jargon and its cant –

It sounds a bit portentous and intriguing; that, I'll grant.

Poverty and riches are a fitting field to search

With a solemn manner like a funeral at church.

Grow a beard, wear spectacles, and talk of in'trest rates,

And you can be an equal to the rulers of great states.

Make your theory sound as if there were no other way

And in a comfy catbird seat you normally will stay.

And when your airy-fairy world is crushed by some disaster,

Just explain you tied it to the worth of a piaster.

How can anybody prove you're wrong?  Instead they'll look like comics,

Since no one in their right mind understands real economics!
