Foie Gras

I never thought of liver as a high-class dinner dish;

In fact when I had liver as a I kid I would cry "Ish!"

You can fry it up with bacon and with onions all you want;

It's still a piece of offal that my childhood dreams did haunt.

But the French, as always, know a pretty darn sure way

To make it appetizing and to make you wanna pay –

They feed a goose on buttered crumbs until its bloated liver

Kills the poor thing, and then they do sell it by the sliver.

I hope that in my next life corn is not stuffed down my craw

As a goose just so I can be someone's fine foie gras!
