Debt

Polonius in Hamlet said it with such clarity –

Neither lender nor a debtor should you ever be.

No one's ever forced to lend, but many are to borrow –

Leading to all sorts of mischief and longstanding sorrow.

When you are a debtor you become a mere statistic

And are treated with a prejudice antagonistic.

Pencil pushers sign away your fair name in a second;

You may find yourself in court when your bill is reckoned.

Lenders have a million friends; a debtor hasn't any  --

So I'd think twice before I'd borrow so much as a penny.
